What is it?

Matting is a condition that occurs when your dogs coat is densely tangled or knotted. Matting is very painful and can lead to other serious health conditions such as: flea infestation, skin irritations and infections.

Severe cases of matting can cut off the dogs circulation and cause hematomas (severe bruising).

Matting can lead to moisture build up on the skin and create sores on your pups body.

Why can't it be brushed out?

Trying to brush out a matt on a dog is like trying to brush out dreadlocks! It is an extremely lengthy process that causes severe pain and discomfort to your fur-baby.

The most pain-free and humane way to get rid of matts is by clipping your dogs hair underneath the matts which is normally very short. Shaving a dog is not the quick and easy way out, it is still very time consuming but saves the dog from extreme discomfort.

We love your fur-babies as if they were our own. Our goal as groomers is to give your pets a comfortable/safe experience while they are in our care, sometimes that means shaving them to make sure they remain healthy and pain-free.

The hair will grow back! The best way to avoid matting in a dog is regular brushing (with a comb that is able to go all the way to the skin without pulling), regular grooming (most dogs should be groomed every 4-6 weeks), and drying your dog fully after they are wet.

We will forever believe in humanity over vanity.

Thanks for learning with us!
